Playwright Bertolt Brecht said, “Art is not only a mirror held up to reality, but a hammer with which to shape it.” In this current time of uncertainty, TAP has decided to take up our hammer and shape a new future for our building in historic downtown Sturgeon Bay. Last year we quietly launched the REIMAGINE TAP Campaign. It is a bold effort to unleash the hidden potential of what a theatrical experience at TAP could be with a major investment in the theatre itself. With a goal of $3.5 million, the REIMAGINE TAP Campaign will finally raise the quality of our venue to the same high standard set by the performances themselves. We are thrilled to announce that with a $1 million lead gift and the support of numerous philanthropists, we are closing in on our goal; and with the theatre temporarily shut down for the pandemic, renovation has already begun!
Your support is needed to complete this project.
Your experience at TAP will be greatly enhanced with a beautiful, state-of-the-art performance area, an expanded lobby, concessions lounge, and accessible updated restrooms. Our REIMAGINE TAP Campaign will allow us to add even more energy to Sturgeon Bay’s cultural atmosphere, bringing additional business to local restaurants, lodging, and retail shops.
As you know, TAP’s programming consists of both popular favorites and lesser-known works, including world premieres and restorations of long-forgotten theatrical endeavors. Works from established playwrights, along with those of exciting new writers, all find a home on TAP’s stage. The intimacy of our performance space provides a safe, human-scale setting; an invitation to explore and experience what makes us human – engendering compassion, curiosity, and a deeper commitment to and awareness of our larger community.
Your gift will help raise the quality of our venue so that it matches the same high standard set by the performances themselves improving the theatrical experience for you and everyone who attends.
Theatre will return and TAP will be ready. We cannot wait to see you again – to laugh with you, cry with you, and experience stories together in a continuation of the bond between actors and audiences that has existed for thousands of years.
That’s what TAP has long been – and will continue to be. Professional theatre… up close and personal. Please help us REIMAGINE our beloved TAP by making a gift today.
